New Friends & Good Times @ Curtin College Orientation 2014 01
What has 4,000 stickers, 500 legs, 250 water bottles, 20 groups, 10 stops, and 1 crazy guy standing on a chair shouting his lungs out?
That’s right, it’s the Curtin College Orientation! And this year it was something spectacular. Students raced from station to station, led by their Student Mentors, in a quest to learn more about the College, gather up stickers, and compete for a chance to win a Microsoft Surface RT.
With stops at the Curtin Bus Station, Bookshop, Library, and campus eateries, students got a look at some of the facilities available to them at Curtin University. The rest of the stops were closer to home, as groups worked their way through the College, meeting staff members like Marisa, Pranavi, and Sook to learn about the Student Advisory Team and get acquainted with Student Support.
Then it was off to meet Rachael, Jia, and Joanne at the front desk, as well as Kay and Jocelyn from the Communications team. A quick peek at the Common Room and computer labs rounded out the race before students collected back at the front of Building 205 to sign up for all the events going on during 2014 at Curtin College and grab up raffle tickets for the post-race prizes.
An incredible forty-one prizes were handed out, including movie tickets, College print credit, Bookshop vouchers, and one lucky student won the Surface!
Be sure to thank the Student Leaders and Mentors for all their hard work during Orientation.
