Entry Requirements

View Entry Requirements By Country View Course Pre-requisites View English Requirements

Alternative Entry Options Provisional Entry for Diploma of Commerce and Diploma of Arts & Creative Industries.

Students with an IELTS of 6.0 overall and one band of 5.5 or 5.0 (depending on the course) plus the required academic score, may be able to begin the diploma on a provisional entry program.

In the first study period, students will be offered Tertiary Communication Skills (TCS) along with their diploma units. TCS will improve the use of English across the four main skills of reading, writing, speaking and listening; as well as developing the students’ use of grammar and vocabulary. Students will learn to communicate more effectively and accurately in an academic context. Students will be able to complete the diploma program and TCS over 3 study periods.

Portfolio Entry

Students who believe broader assessment of their school results, work experience, community engagement and other training/education achievements would be relevant to their application, may submit a supplementary portfolio to support their application.

Applicants in the following categories should submit a supplementary portfolio:

  • School leavers who do not have an Australian Tertiary Entrance Rank (ATAR) or
    equivalent,

Credit for Recognised Learning (CRL) CRL is usually based on successful completion of equivalent modules or units of study at another institution.

Credit for Recognised Learning (CRL) enables students to complete specified Diploma courses in a shorter time than normal.

Applications for credits should include unit outlines (syllabus) and certified copies of any academic transcripts. Curtin College also recognises the skills and knowledge students may have gained from life experiences, work experience and any training provided through previous employment.

Requests for CRL should be made at the time of application and prior to arrival in Australia to ensure that correct visas are issued.

Approval of CRL after the student visa has been granted may require the College to report the change of course duration under Section 19 of the ESOS act. Students applying for CRL must study at least 50% of the course at the College.
